Get to Know Us

Welcome to our Foundation! Our main goal is to provide free Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) classes to  community members. We also offer AEDs to different organizations throughout the county and train their staff on how to use them in case of a life-saving emergency. An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a medical device designed to analyze the heart rhythm and deliver an electric shock to victims of ventricular fibrillation to restore the heart rhythm to normal. Ventricular fibrillation is the uncoordinated heart rhythm most often responsible for sudden cardiac arrest. Our scholarships are focused on healthcare-related classes, we offer mentorship opportunities within the non-profit organization as well as in the classrooms. Join us in our mission to save lives and promote health in our community!

Currently the Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation National Average of out of Hospital Survival Rate is 14-16%. Calaveras County has an average survival rate of 1-2%. Cardio Pulmonary Disease is the number one cause of death. For every one minute that Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is not performed, the chance of survival goes down by 10%. Other rural areas have implemented community outreach programs geared towards teaching CPR and have raised their average survival rate from 14-16% to almost 30%. We believe that our programs can achieve this kind of success as well. Statistics can be found at mycares.net.

Two Chicks Foundation is proud to announce our partnership with local American Heart Association Training Site, Heartbeat Essentials LLC. Our community can now benefit from the best CPR training available, taught by professionally certified teachers. We are committed to providing top-notch training.

Where did the name come from?

Two Chicks Foundation was founded by you guessed it 'Two Chicks!' Lark and Lorna. Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you are going to get. -Forest Gump. With that being said these two chicks have been best friends and shared so much of their lives with one another for years. Just like all of us we've been through it. Maybe you have experienced a loss of a loved one, a friend passing away, worked somewhere where you take care of a person and are their right hand, a bad separation or divorce, your house burnt down, you were the victim of domestic violence, you experienced a traumatic event. Just like all of these real life scenarios these two chicks have always shared the good and bad together. They always said that one day, if things got better they would give back to their community and dreaming big maybe multiple communities. They discussed names for different things throughout the years, and Two Chicks always came up. The first time was 10 years ago, 8 years ago or 14 years ago.... I truly can't remember. So when things got better, and they finally decided to move forward with the non-profit that they had always talked / dreamed about, Two Chicks Foundation it was!
